Luscious Locks

Always one for a dupe or a similar but cheaper product, I think I’ve found another one!

For the last year I have been using Moroccan Oil in my hair, and it has really made a difference in terms of hydration, softness and general look. It’s fair to say that I am a fan of Moroccan oil! As I was recently going on holiday I didn’t think that the packaging was too handy to travel with and also didn’t want to dispense any into a container, with oil I think this is only asking for trouble in a suitcase. I stumbled across the Avon MoroccanArgan Oil and thought the perfect time to give it a try and see what it was made of.

Glad I did, as it was a real treat for my locks after lounging by the pool and in and out of salt water. It left my hair super soft, combated all frizz from humidity and as a result my hair is in great condition after a week of being abused by the sun. As I have a slight ombre colour going on, I was really cautions this year about preventing my blonde going green (the horror!) and also keeping my hair hydrated. This really did the trick, and although I don’t trend to style my hair on holiday (I’m more of a salt spray and go kind of gal) this definitely helped in keeping everything in check. Just run some through the end of your hair, not going as far as the roots then blow dry and you are good to go.
Now for the great news, its £5.50 compared to the usual £30 a pop, that’s a saving of over a fifth. Grab yourself an Avon catalogue or get online and snap some of this bad boy up.

Holiday Make Up

After a day catching some sun, and lathering myself in sun lotion the last thing I want to do is pack on the make up at night time. So holiday make up, for me, has to be light and easy.

I use to have bad habit of over packing make up, taking every brush and every shadow "just in case". I've learnt the error of my ways and know that on holiday I usually will not spend half as much time getting ready, but still want to look picture perfect.

I have been loving the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum and think it will be perfect on holiday, its super light but gives really great coverage. I would be lost without my Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Powder for that summer time glow. Concealer, is essential no matter what country you are in, and Mac Studio Finish Concealer is the perfect travel size but gives great coverage under the eyes, and where need be. 3 products and the face is done, I'm ruthless.

MUA seem to have been a go to for me this summer. The eyeliners are in great colours, and are really highly pigmented. Not to mention they are only £1 each. They also last for ever on your eyes, even the water line. The blushes, are creamy and work in well to the skin so I'll be taking my Bittersweet blush for the perfect pink cheeks (and hopefully not in a sunburn way!) I'll be cheating on my Urban Decay Naked Palette for the MUA undressed eye shadow palette. I have good reason for this though. One, its so much more travel friendly and as I am trying to pack efficiently this won. Two, its a complete dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Palette so...really its a win win.

Now, I purchased two new products that I can't wait to try out one of which are the Bourjois Colour Boosts. I bought two, Fuchsia Libre(right) and Red Sunrise (left). I have only had these a matter of days, but already they have won me over. The shades are perfect for summer and they feel great on your lips.

Another purchase I have heard every one and their blogger rave about are the Maybelline Colour Tattoo's. I picked up the shades On and On Bronze and Pink Gold. Both are great for summer as they are shimmery and workable colours. Bronze if you are wanting a more of a smokey look and the Pink Gold looks perfect for a fresh, shimmery evening look. I can not wait to try these and out and report back!

Very excited for holidays now all the packing is done, and hopefully I will not be as bogged down carrying things I will never wear/use!

I'm away to tan, relax and some major girlie time with my sister.

Holiday Essentials.

Holiday time is just around the corner so dust off your lotions, bikinis and lets get bronzed!

To help you in your packing woes I have condensed my summer essentials to get you started....

Everyone has that one sun lotions or moisturiser that reminds them of summer and the Hawaiian Tropic After Sun body Butter is exactly that. Its smells of coconuts and fruit, you could just eat it given half a chance. And conveniently, it also works a dream. I just about used the majority of my sisters last year so had to have my own stock for our holiday this time round. It soothes, and calms any redness as well as giving a burst of moisture so your skin is ready for soaking up some sun the next day.

It's so important to use an after sun, not only to try and extend your tan but also to help your skin adjust and mend its self it it's not use to sun exposure. And living in Scotland, it's a miracle I can even recognise the sun when it shows its face!

Always were sun tan lotion, do not go in the sun without it! You will regret it and end up looking like a lobster or an old leather belt when your old. Neither of which are attractive, or necessary. Lotion up people. That includes your little lips. I will be taking Piz Buin Factor 30 for face and body. I usually start on a high factor to allow my skin to adjust to the sun then I'll drop down to a lower factor if I'm feeling brave. I would always rather have a healthy glow than be seen from space because I'm that burnt!

Now, I don't think Im the only one who dreads washing their hair abroad. The water is never as good and it always feels a little limp. This year I am super excited to try out the Bumble and Bumble Surf travel kit, this contain the surf Shampoo, Conditioner and Salt Spray. All in handy travel sizes. This range is designed for being in and out water, at the beach and walking around in the heat. So hopefully helping my hair when its being deprived of some good Scottish water!

Urban Outfitters do great bikini's and this one has tiny little elephants all over it! How cute. Last but not least, throw on your sunglasses and relax.

So those are the basics for some holiday sunshine. What are you're holiday essentials?

Fake It Until You Make It

Whether you are preventing burning or hiding burns already sustained, we all know fake tan is the way forward.

I've mentioned this before, but I am ghastly white majority of the time so fake tan is a yes in my beauty book! However there are rules for fake tan to be in my beauty book...no streaks and no orange. I think I speak for most people with these two rules, I'd hope anyway.

So in my quest to look in the land of the living instead of like casper the friendly ghost I have tried a few tans over the years and came across a little gem while at a Blogger Event. Now, don't judge me but Lauren Goodger has done what so many others couldn't, and brought a tan to the market that works a real treat.

Now, for me when I wash off the excess tan in the morning the whole lot usually runs off me. Very annoying after all the effort to apply. So imagine my surprise when Lauren's Way Self Tanning Bronzing Lotion did not budge! Except what is suppose to, I'm not a supporter of the "I've rolled in dirt" look.

I find it adapts really well to my skin tone giving a sun kissed glow, I usually apply two coats over two days. I apply this with a tanning mit and it is never streaky, and tends to fade quite naturally rather than coming off in patches.

Now I have no idea what kind of witchcraft has been used in this product, all I know is it works and I love it. Save yourself from some sunburn, safe in the knowledge you will not be mistaken for an Oompa Loompa and purchase some Laurens Way Self Tanning Bronzing Lotion.

A Good ol' Scrub

So the sun has got his hat on Hip Hip Hooray!!... It had to happen at some point and thankfully it has. This now means that our limbs that are usually covered up with tights and wool jumpers need to be exposed to the sunshine and other people. So I will be doing a few blogs on prep to go form hibernation to summer.
The first step of any “legs oot” routine needs to be exfoliating. I use to use the exfoliation gloves, and I still do as I think they work really well, but I have found myself reaching for scrubs and not any old scrubs, salt scrubs.
These scrubs are put on dry or damp skin and they really get the skin feeling smooth and fresh. I have been switching between a few and thought I would share them with you.

Bliss Hot Salt Scrub was an impulse purchase and my first introduction to salt scrubs. With this I would recommend standing on a towel or applying in the shower as it does get messy! Slap this all over your body before showering working it in to your skin, as you do it will all fall apart and spread along your skin (with a little encouragement). Step in the shower and it will all run off you, leaving your skin super smooth. I was really surprised at how well this worked and how silky my skin felt afterwards, as you can see from the photo this has been well used. I would definitely re purchase this product as it worked really well and the results lasted a reasonable length of time.

Nspa products are new to me, and I have mixed feelings towards them, although I do like this scrub but the packaging is so inconvenient! You almost break your fingers trying to squeeze this almost solid product out. But moving on from my package issue, the scrub is applied to damp skin, so I usually jump in the shower and quickly dash myself with water then apply this scrub all over. It’s a strange sensation, it feels almost warm when it reacts with the water on your skin, but once you wash it off your skin it left feeling really smooth and smells lovely! I don’t know if I would buy this again purely because of the packaging, this whole range is very reasonable priced so if good value outweighs the stress of breaking your own fingers, then this is the product for you.

Now, I was very late on to the Soap & Glory bandwagon. Why? I have no idea. But so far I have really enjoyed all the products I have used. One of them being the Shea Butter, Sugar And Peach Seed Body Polish. Apply to dry skin and then wash off in the shower (in case you hadn’t got that recurring theme). I thought that this was really easy to use as it spread a lot easier than the other ones I have tried and it smells like a flowers, which is always delightful! It leaves my skin feeling smooth, clean and ready for some serious pampering.

I don't have a favourite and tend to alternate between the three of these scrubs, variety is the spice of life right? It’s important to exfoliate as it removes the top layers of skin that are dead, this meaning your moisturisers actually reach where they are needed and can brighten the skin. In my opinion, a must before baring those legs and arms.

J'adore Dior? Oui, Oui.

Right im on the bandwagon, and cant stop putting the Dior BB Cream all over my face. There, its out there now. I've said it.

I have never been one for BB creams and that whole fiasco totally passed me by...until now. As a beauty blogger I read other blogs and watch youtube beauty videos and almost every blogger has rolled out the words; love, need, dior and BB cream to me. Pretty much in that order. So I ofcourse needed to try this out and boy am I glad I did.

I have to say when I first went and got a sample of this, I was not other enthused. At all. Even once a little swatch had been on my face I was still underwhelmed, but took the sample and thought I'll give it a go. I have literally never looked back, this has not been off my face. The coverage is not at all what I expected from a BB cream, it really does the job. Not a foundation but definitely hides all those sins! I have shade 002 and its perfect for brightening your face up. I apply mine with my Real Techniques Expert Face brush and it blends really easily. Doesn't gather on your face and spreads realy well. I have been so impressed with the tiny little sample that I have repurhcased a full size.

The only bad bit is that as its a Luxury brand this BB cream will set you back £30, in my head having used it, totally worth it. They have this formula nailed and my face has been reaping the benefits!

Treat yourself to some Dior, that's what I say.
