Sunday, Sunday.

Today has been one of those lovely days, where you just think if I didn't have to work this is what I would do all day! This is minus the fight I had with iTunes this morning, that's a story for another day. Or maybe not, as its very long and iTunes wins in the end.

Once I had admitted defeat by my iTunes, I decided that I was going to get a massage. My back has been really sore this last week, not sure if I did something at the gym or what's gone on but all I know is that its sore! Very sore! Sunday's are not the best day for salons to be open but I found one called Embody Massage & Holistic Clinic. I had never been there before and didn't really know what to expect from a Deep Tissue massage, as I usually go for a Swedish Massage. I am not going to lie, this was not the most enjoyable 40minutes of my life, but it has for sure helped all the knots in my back. Unlike a Swedish Massage it is a lot more intense and really gets into your muscles, luckily this was exactly what I was needing. Gemma, the therapist, was great and really worked on the areas I had a lot of tension. I plan on going back and would recommend this place to anyone. Also, it was only £25 for the treatment which I think is a really good price.

After this I thought I would pop into to see my Grandparents. For people who know me, will know that I am pretty close to my gran and grandpa and I really enjoy spending time with them. They were just up to their usual tricks and chatting away. My gran always brings up stories from the past or little saying that I have never heard of, don't cast a clout until May's out, was todays pick! And as we have a few weddings coming up in the family, she was telling me all about when they got married. Even if I have heard them before, it never gets old. No matter how stressed or down I feel, I always find that on the drive home from my grandparents I feel so lifted and relaxed. I suppose grandparents give great perspective to things!

I'm now going to relax in a hot bath, to help all my aching muscles. I've only been 25 for a week, Help.

Essie Love

Recently I have been indulging in a very frequent purchase of Essie nail polishes. I know that many people probably have already discovered these little gems, but I am new to the gang!

I have been enjoying there spring colours and have been living off the below three.

Left to Right: Muchi, Lilacism, Maximillian Strasse Her

Two reasons I am loving these polishes are...
1) The colours are amazing, I think I need them all. That is not a joke.
2) The brush is fantastic. It's wide, and easy to use. Even my sister who I refer to as having "Tweenie hands" because she is incapable of controlling her own hands, is able to use these nail polishes. This says a lot!

These are a little pricey, one bottle is £7. But I think they are worth it and have just about made a weekly purchase of at least one. I'll soon have an Essie collection to rival Superdrug.

Paint on some Seche Vite as a top coat and you are good to go. Happy manicuring!

10 Reasons To Love This dog

It is no secret that I am horribly allergic to dogs, I mean horribly allergic! And although sometimes my sight is pretty badly impaired and my airway closes quite dramatically, I just can not stop snuggling into this little beagle whenever I see him.
Let me introduce you to George The Beagle...

10 Reasons To Love This Dog...

  1. He is bilingual, Count to 5 in French or Spanish and you will get a high-five (fact).
  2. He can eat a whole, dead, pigeon in under 5 mins. How many of us can say that?
  3. Always health conscious for everyone, he has had a whole family out on a search party while he casually saunters up the path 4 hours later. Thanks for the work out George!
  4. When needing fed, he will pick up his bowl and move it beside his bag of food before barking constantly. Smart and convenient if you ask me.
  5. He gets called "Main One", and yes there is a theme tune to go along with it.
  6. He is an excellent thief.
  7. He loves to snuggle, if there is a blanket around then he wants under it.
  8. His community spirit is high, he takes guard duties very seriously. One leaf moves and he will raise the alarm. Sleep easy everyone, George has it covered.
  9. He is partial to a little bit of fancy dress, and did wear a bejewelled necklace for the entire Christmas Day. Accessorise, Accessorise.
  10. You will never feel more loved than when you walk into the house and he greets you.

Allergic or not everyone should love George The Beagle.

Hint Taken

This is a very appropriate blog on the eve of my 25th Birthday.

For the last few months I have been using the many lotions and potions I got for Christmas. For some reason the majority of my stocking and many of my presents from people included night creams, anti ageing and anti wrinkle creams. Where they trying to tell me something?? Either way, all girls know that 25 is the age you really need to start looking after your skin, if you do not want to look like a leathery crocodile by the time you're 40 (please god don't do that to me!) So I have gathered a few of my favourites for a quick review.

My sister bought me Origins Starting Over Age Erasing Eye Cream with Mimosa, clearly my eyes has been looking tired. This can be used at night or under make up, when you first put it on it is very refreshing and does make you eyes feel a lot more awake. I used this on and off for a while and didn't really notice a difference. But when I started to use it more regularly, you really do notice it working. It lightened any dark circles, brightening the skin around my eyes and left the skin smoother. When you wear it under your make up, it really evens the skin tone around your eyes and evens any lines. It also seems to be lasting forever which is also a bonus.

Next, I have been using the YSL Forever Youth Liberator. This is a serum rather than a cream and is really luxurious. I use this about once a week and I really love this on my skin. I only ever use it at night and it dries into your skin straight away, it also has a really lovely scent to it. All of this mixed with the packaging just oozes luxury! Again I have had this since Christmas and it doesn't really seem to be going down too much for using it once a week.

The last product I'm going to talk about is my favourite, by a mile. It's the LancĂ´me Soothing Recharging Night Cream. I love this night cream, and use it every night. It really brightens your skin, melts into the skin perfectly and in the morning my skin feels hydrated and refreshed. There is a light scent to this product, but it not over powering or tightens the skin. I would recommend this night cream and will definitely be re purchasing!

So, if like me your family have given you the gentle hints in the right direction then I say taken them up on it and enjoy all these lovely moisturisers. With a bit of luck they will make us look 20 forever...im keeping everything crossed.

Pilates Reformer Class

I am going to start this honestly, although I exercise, I am not a bendy or flexible person. Many people reading this have probably had the pleasure of seeing me "stretching" at the gym. Touching my toes is out of the question, and if you think I can walk my hands between my legs then you have another thing coming. I do not bend those ways.

That in mind, I was a little nervous when myself and some work colleagues signed up for a Pilates Reformer class at The Residence in Glasgow this week. I had done mat Pilates before and besides from almost taking an eye out with the band and laughing at my friend (a lot!), I could only remember a lot of stretching and bending being involved. I was really interested to use the reformer machines, as I know that's what all the celebs use and rave about! And not one to turn down the prospect of a Gwyneth Paltrow body, I put my name down to go along.

When we arrived the machines do look slightly daunting, but the teacher Lisa soon put us at ease and has us all up and doing different things. Everything was explained very clearly and by the time the class started I felt quite confident using the machine.

In the class there was about 10 of us and a second teacher arrived, SJ. She was lovely and both teachers would walk around correcting any wrong positioning, which was helpful. There are different moves for different areas of the body, the reformer works by using resistance from the springs and your controlled movement to work your muscles. To make anything lighter or heavier you simply adjust the springs attached to the carriage.

The class was really enjoyable and I definitely learnt new things about how to work your core and how important your posture is. I really enjoyed the class and while I was there could feel the burn on my legs and core. I think that the more you go to the class the more repetitions you can do, as you are use the to the reformer. That said, parts of my body definitely felt like they had been working. My inner thighs, core and arms were all a little achy today, but in a very good way!

I would definitely go back to this class as I do think its good to change the muscles you use in your workout and it is always good to try new things. Not to mention that the class was in a very nice setting within The Residence.

I've put all the links below, so I say grab some friends and go along for a class to learn something new and do something different for an hour or so!

Fail To Prepare, Then Prepare To Fail

Fail to prepare, then prepare to fail is a saying my Gran Watson use to say to me while I was studying for my exams at school. To be honest it never really rang true with me then as I wasn't the best studier and was too busy planning Proms and Yearbooks. But, I now find myself saying this quietly to myself quite often. This saying is never truer than if you try to Eat Clean, which I try to do.

I started eating clean a few months ago as a couple of girls in work were eating this way, and my little bowl of tinned soup looked pretty nasty compared to their lovely lunches. So I decided to try it out and I have to say once you start it kind of consumes you!

I now find myself making batches of chicken, mince and vegetables on a Sunday and looking forward to lunches and dinners. I find to make this way of eating work, you really need to prepare otherwise you won't eat clean and you will end up hating it and finding it really difficult. That said, all my prep usually only takes about an hour.

Now, I am in no way a professional clean eater (if that's a thing) but this blog will fill you in on some of the recipes I follow. I am not sure if clean eating and Paleo are the same, but I tend to merge the two and use a lot of Paleo recipes. Usually I will start with cooking some chicken breasts and shredding them up so as they can be stirred into different dressings. I will also make some small burgers or meatballs with some mince. I add herbs like thyme, coriander to the burgers along with some onion and garlic. Bind it all together with an egg and you are good to go on the burger/meatball front.

I mentioned dressings, and I will post a link to some of the recipes I follow below, but I tend to stick with salsa, guacamole or salad dressings. Again I follow all paleo recipes with sauces and dressings.

What I have I noticed when I eat like this? Firstly lets just say I am no saint and can be very easily lead by a Percy Pig. But, the difference eating like this can do really is amazing. I sleep better, your skin is so much more healthier looking. Eating vegetables at lunch does fill you up a LOT more and keeps your energy on an even keel. Not to mention the difference on your waistline.

So, ok I get easily lead by a few fancy treats. But for me this is a new way of life and I am still learning but I am not going to be excluding sugar or sweets for the rest of my life, can you even imagine how sad you would be. Far too many Easter eggs still needing to be ate for that, so who cares if you have a few here and there! 80/20 or there about is my moto.

Throw in some hill sprints and some resistance training and that is pretty much where I am right now.

Spring Kisses

We have had our hour stolen from us, it seems to have stopped snowing and I did quite the spring clean today, therefore I am now officially going to say we are in Spring! yay! And for this season there are a few good lips colours I am wanting to share. As I said in a previous blog I am really loving using different lip colours, so as here's a few of my favourites.

Firstly, I am becoming obsessed with Rimmel London Apocalips. If you haven't tried these then you need to! They are fantastic, the pigment is great and they go on effortlessly. They look like a lip gloss but the colour is more like a lipstick, best of both worlds really. I so far have bought three colours.
Left to Right: Luna, Stellar and Apocaliptic

I have been using all three alternately, although maybe Luna more as it has more of a day wear feel to it. I can not reccommend these enough, I have been bullying my sister into buying them and raving about them to friends.

I have also been loving the combination of Rimmel London Kate in shade No5 with my MAC Lip Glass in Pink Poodle. I don't know why this combination works so well but it just does, and who am I to argue. The colour is perfect for every day wear or if I am going out at night, it's not to over powering but just ties a look together really nicely.

Generally, I have just been mixing old lipsticks with new lip glosses and vice versa. It's a really good way to keep your look fresh and new without having to always buy everything from scratch.

Now that I have offically declared it spring I am very much looking forward to the season ahead and putting away my wellies, and replacing it with some spring lips!
