Stobo Castle

This week my sister and I treated ourselves to a couple of days at Stobo Catle. We were suppose to be soaking up the sun in Dubai, but unfortunately we had to cancel our holiday. Now Stobo is no Dubai, its better! Not really, thats just what I keep telling myself but it was exactly what I think we were both needing after an odd week.

When we arrived the setting is beautiful, it is a castle in the middle of absolutely nowhere. There is no houses around, just one country road leading up to the castle. We had booked in for 3 treatments; a Serailbad mud room for two, a full body massage and the Stobo french facial. These were spread over the 2 days we were there which gave us plently of time to use ther other facilities, mainly the outdoor hot tub. It was snowing lightly while we were there so while you were all toasty in the hot tub you were lightly dusted with snow and looking at all the snowy mountians around you...can you think of anything more relaxing!

So, heres is a quick rundown on the treatments. The words amazing and perfect will be used often, i can only apologise. So, The Serailbad mud room for two was a room that you smothered yourself from the neck down with mud and applied an oatmeal mask to your face. It is suppose to draw our all the toxins and nourish your skin. Once the mud is applied the therapist switches on the steam for 15 mins. This did feel a little weird but when the warm water was then jetted into the room and the mud all washed off, your skin felt amazing! It felt softer, it looked healthier and a lovely dewyness was all over your body, again amazing! Try pairing that with then going in the hot tub for a while...can you tell I was sold in this place after the first few hours??

We then had our Stobo French Facial. I had actually never had a facial before, so was looking forward to this. The therapist was so lovely and explained all about my skin type and different products I should use, very useful to know! I had always thought I had dry skin, but apparently its dehydrated not dry...that will be that 1 glass of juice I drink a day then. Note to self must drink more water! The treatment was so relaxing and as a bonus you get a foot, hand or scalp massage while your mask dires. After my skin felt so nourished, not tight at all and looked so much healthier in skin tone and just general! I have a list of the products my therapist used for this treatment so I will list them below.

The full body was massage was exactly what was needed! Again the therapist was great, and completely made you feel at ease, I almost fell asleep. Afterwards your body just felt incredible, so loose and I could probably of slept for the rest of the day.

There is so much choice at Stobo Castle, you can use all the facilities from gym classes to walks on the grounds. There is 3 steam rooms to choose from all of which I really enjoyed, a pool which looks out on to the mountains and also a jacuzzi. There are also tennis courts you can use, and if the weather is permitting then they wash your car for you while you are being pampered. And I think I have mentioned the hot tub already! Everytime you eat its 3 courses, I would reccomend the venison and stickly toffee pudding. It was all delicious.

Although this was all so luxurious and perfect while we were there, it was also great to spend some time with my sister. Just out in the middle of nowhere planning her wedding and being silly together. Sisterly annual event? It would be rude not to enjoy such a beautiful place again.

Manicure Monday

I have seen this all over twitter recently so here is my #manicuremonday.

As all good people know you need to prep your nails with a quick file and push back your cuticles first. I then always apply a base coat, I use the Beauty Secret base coat. It is really fast drying and protects your nails from being stained with any of the colour. Today I chose to wear the Avon Real Red Nailwear Pro+. I don't often wear Avon nail polishes, but the moment took me to try it out I went with it. I was quite surpirsed the brush was so easy to use and the the polish went on effortlessly and was lovely and thick. I applied 2 coats out of habit, but this Avon one would of been fine with just one. I will seriously need to invest in a few more Avon nail poishes!

I have recently purchased the Seche Vite top coat as I have read lots of bloggers raving about it, and they are not lying. I have no idea why it has taken so long for me to buy this, It is amazing! I think if you don't already have this, then it possible you need this in your life. Once you have put this top coat on your nails it honestly looks like you have had shellac done, its so shiney and makes your nail colour last so much longer. It's a definite favourite.

So that is my Monday manicure done and all reay for the week ahead.

The Cold Again, Really?

Turns out, a brunch with your friends can't cure the cold. Who knew!

I have some how managed to catch the cold again, and it's almost becoming a running joke. From Facebook and Twitter I don't think I am alone in this struggle of a reoccurring cold. So I have decided to share my method of shaking the pesky thing off. Below are the main things I have been using to banish it from my system...

....and this is how I use all of the above.

1) Steam your face with Menthol Crystals. You get these everywhere and they are pretty cheap, but amazing. They will have you feeling great in about a day and a half. If I'm under the weather I will use these every 3 to 4 hours and it helps your nose, ears, head and eyes. Just boil some water, tip some of the crystals in (only some, they are super strong!), then put your head under a towel and steam away. After I have steamed I will splash some cold water on my face, as the steam opens all your pores so you need to close them again.

2) Sudocrem mask! In my earlier blog I told you all about the amazingness of a Sudocrem mask and they are even more amazing when you are sick. If I have a cold I will also put some on my nose or any dry areas on my face, except the eye area.

3) Water and paracetamol. Now, for some weird reason when I am not feeling great drinking water makes me feel so much worse and kind of hurts my ears (strange) but I force my self to drink as much as possible beacuse it really does help. Paracetamol is obvious, controls your temperature and generally makes aches and pains less painful.

4) Dr Lipp. This is a new product I have been using and so far I have been really impressed. It really hydrates your lips and they even feel plumper! I have been using this at night and it really has made a difference.

5) A little bit of tan. I usually do this step once I realise that I am in fact, not going to die from the cold even though it felt like it only a few days ago. I am super pale (think Wednesday Adams), so when I am sick I look like I have risen from a grave. I am a huge believer in "if you look better you start to feel better" and not being mistaken for the walking dead is always a bonus! So after a few days I will always pop some tan on my face to make myself feel better.

If you are unwell then I hope this has helped and that we all get better soon!

Gal Pals Brunch

There really is nothing better that some girlie gossip over some brunch. Which is exactly what I did today!

It's freezing outside and I'm beginning to feel a little ill, but after an aternoon of laughing and chit chat with two of my close friends I think I might be cured. We went to The Bungo Bar and Kitchen in Shawlands and it was so cosy, perfect for a Sunday brunch relaxing. We all had the french toast with bacon and maple syrup...oh my what a great combination.

To keep myself warm I was wrapped up in some faux fur and jumper. Dressed up by a sparkly pencil skirt. I am a huge fan of mixing textures in clothing and do this as often as I can, as I think it gives a look and extra dynamic. My make up this afternoon was quite neutral eyes, with a dark liquid liner and a pop of colour on the lips. Im currently obesessed with lipsticks and stains so have been trying some new things out.

It's so easy to get caght up every day life, but I really love days like this where you are just hanging out with friends catching up.

After all, what girl doesn't love a brunch.

Sudocrem Mask

Well we almost made it to Spring, but this week has definitely been more like Winter. Jack Frost has been out in full force, and although there is nothing better than having any excuse to be wrapped up in your cosiest clothes its not ideal for your skin.

This winter I have applied a Sudocrem mask once a week and it is incredible. Apply a thick layer on your face at night and let it soak into your skin while you sleep. In the morning wash off any excess.Yes, you will look like casper when you first put it on, but I promise in the moring you will look more like Snow white!

As I said in my previous blog I get quite dry skin, but doing a Sudocrem mask once a week seemed to keep that at bay this Winter. I found it also evened out skin tone, calmed any blemishes and generally made my skin look dewy and feel really smooth.

As you can see I have used quite a bit of my Sudocrem!

I wouldn't put this on the skin around your eyes, as the skin there is quite thin. Instead just put your normal moisturiser around the eye area. Also you don't necessarily have to put it on as a mask I quite often just put a small bit wherever I need it. As I said, its excellent at calming/totally removing any blemishes.

Now that I have shared my little winter secret with you all, why not try it yourself.

Liz Earle- Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise

I thought I would start off with a product I use daily, and have done so for the last year or so. It was a friend who introduced me to Liz Earl Cleanse Tone and Moisturise...and I have never looked back!

Above are the three products, and 2 Muslin cloths (which are incredible on their own!).

Fisrt you use the Cleanse and Polish on unwashed skin, even if you have make up on, pump some out and rub it all over your face and neck. Then dampen the muslin cloth in some warm water and wash it  all off. Then put some toner on a cotton pad and glide all over your face and neck. To finish put a helping of the moisturiser over your face and neck. Leaves your skin feeling fresh but not tight.

Now I don't have bad skin by any means, I am lucky that all I tend to get in the ocassional spot. However I do get dry skin and if you are the same, then the Muslin cloth is the answer to this problem. The cloth is easily my favourite part of this product, and sometimes i'll even just dampen it and clean my face if there is a few dry skin issues. Usually when you buy it as a set I think you get two of the cloths, but I have purchsed more from John Lewis and they were only around £3-£4. There is not a strong scent from the product, if any and it doesn't linger on your face. The moisturieser is quite thin but really effective.

All in all, I am a huge Liz Earle fan and don't see that changing any time soon.

Welcome!

I have recently became obsessed with reading beauty blogs and watching YouTube blogs, so thought I would share some of my life via a blog.

This won't necessarily be a beauty blog, but there will be some of it mixed with lifestyle and other fun things.
