The Dupe

I am a huge fan of the Urban Decay Naked Palette, but I have found a dupe. And this dupe is a fraction of the price!

MUA (Make Up Academy) are quickly making their way into my make up bag, and their Undressed Eyeshaddow Palette is at the top of my list.

The shades are all quite neutral with a few darker ones thrown in to add some depth to your eyes, all of which are very similar to the Urban Decay Naked Palette. They are really pigmented and so they go easily on to the lids and stay there. Now here's the best bit about this dupe... its £4. MUA products are always very reasonably priced and I would definitely recommend this to be added to your collection! Obviously this is not the exact same quality as Urban Decay Naked  Palette, but that will set you back £36, so MUA have completely nailed a budget alternative.

Daily Look

Like most people I have my favourites in my make up bag and items I reach for time after time. I like to be quite natural during the day, nothing to caked on or too harsh. So I keep it all pretty simple and use colours which are peach/pink toned.
I know I said that I don't like make up to be caked on and this looks like quite a lot, I promise its not!
So here we go...
Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in shade 51. I apply this with my trusty Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.
Concealer: Mac Studio Finish in shade NW15. I have had this for years and it gives really good coverage and blends really easily.
Bronzer: Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark. I got this last spring and I've used it pretty much everyday since. Really gives a healthy glow, even to the palest skin!
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked Palette. I got this a couple of months ago and if I'm wearing eye make up this is the pallet I more often than not reach for just now.

The shades are all neutral, which is great because they are really easy to blend together and work with almost all skin tones. You can darken your eyes up or keep them light and natural. The perfect all rounder if you ask me!
Eye Brushes: I apply the base colour, in this case Sin the second shade in from the left with the Real Techniques shading brush. For the liner I use an angled brush along the lash line, today was a Mac 206. Finally for a little crease shading to give your eyes some depth I used a Mac 226SE (part of a travel set, similar to a Mac 217.
Eye Lash Curlers: Shu Uemura curlers, now my sister is completely responsible for this purchase. £20 on eye lash curlers seems insane to me, but she raved and raved about them that I had to try. They are really good and don't tug on the lashes. But do I think you need to buy these? No. I'm sure there are other eyelash curlers which work just as well, I was merely carried away in a frenzy of need by my sister.
Mascara: Maybelline Falsies- everyone raves about this mascara and I am no different. It gives good coverage, and adds volume to the lashes. The brush is curved so helps to avoid any clumps.
Blush: MUA cream blusher in Dolly. I like the MUA brand, its affordable and of pretty good quality. I also like cream blushers I think they sit well on the skin and this particular one has a good formula and is really pigmented. The whole range is also extremely affordable, this blusher was only about £2. If that's not winning then I don't know what is.

Lips: I generally apply a little lip balm before any lip product, so I went for the safety Vaseline Rose Tinted balm. I then go on with the colour I am wanting and I've recently been loving the Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. I really like the formula of these lipsticks, they are almost like lip balms as they are so moisturising but not at the expense of the colour.
The finished look

I have the application of this down to a fine art and can do it all within 10 minutes, and I'm sure like most girls some mornings I need to. For me its a lasting, easy to wear look that can be adapted day to night.
Hope you enjoyed a rummage in my make up bag!

Fear Not - Hyrdration Is Here

I recently discovered the wonder that is Caroline Hirons. For me she is like the Kelly Cutrone of the skincare world, she tells it to you straight and you need someone like her in your life...always.

I stumbled across a Body Talk Video on YouTube with Caroline and the PixiWoo girls and saw the error of my ways by being introduced to Caroline. From here I have slowly began to stalk Caroline's blog and rarely make a skincare purchase without consulting it. Thanks to the BeautyMouth Blog I am currently mixing up my skincare and getting into a new routine, which I will of course share on here.

BUT...

You need to know about this product that must have been sent by some sort of skincare hero. I give you Hydraluron Moisture Booster from Indeed Labs.

Now I had never used this brand before, so was blindly trusting my new go to blog BeautyMouth, I need not of worried. Holy smokes this serum is magical. I've been using it twice a day before a moisturiser and this difference in my skin is really remarkable.

I found this gem in Boots, and although this is £24.99 I would can not recommend this to people enough, it really has brightened my complexion and without being obvious, hydrated the hell in to it! For me this is now an essential part of my daily routine.

Will you be adding this to your routine?

Sample City

It has been a few weeks since I last blogged, so felt it was time to get back on the horse and ramble about some more beauty products.

Recently, I have been becoming obsessed with samples of beauty products. Having signed up to Glossybox, which is a monthly delivery of a box of 5-6 beauty samples based on a detailed questionnaire, and scouring the website Latest In Beauty to look for any samples that may catch my eye, my problem is only growing.

I've been switching between a few samples below and thought I would share some of my thoughts on them.

Left to Right: Origins Samples, Clarins Samples, Sample Storage.

Lets start with the bad and end on a high.

And sadly, my least favourite products were from Kiehls. I used the Superbly Restorative Argan Body Cleansing and although this was good as a shower gel, I didn't enjoy using oil in the shower like this and it has a bit of a strange, barky, herby smell. Call me strange, but I'm not a huge fan of smelling like I've been living in the woods. I also sampled the Kiehls Olive Fruit Oil Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner. At First I quite liked these products, I felt like they lathered well, left my hair feeling smooth and clean, but after a while It was making my scalp really dry and lets be honest that is not attractive and needless to say they were ditched right away! Lastly from the Kiehls range (yes, I sampled quite a few!) was the Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque. Now, for me, this was the most disappointing as I have dehydrated skin I am always on the look out for a lovely hydrating mask and this product is not it. My skin was noticeably drier the next morning and it wasn't particularly enjoyable to apply either.

Well, I feel like I have suitably bashed Kiehls there, but I haven't lost all hope with this brand as they do have some very luxurious and moisturising body products.

Leaving that behind, lets talk about Clarins. I am going to hold my hands up here and say that I have never used a Clarins product before, well I was missing out! I was advised to try the HydraQuench range, so I have samples of the HydraQuench Intensive serum, HydraQuench Cream and the Water Comfort One Step Cleanser. This is a really good range, the serum is ideal for pre moisturising as it sinks into the skin easily and quickly. The moisturiser is really absorbent and I do notice a difference when I use it. The best part of this range is the cleaner, it smells incredible. Think peaches and cream smeared all over your face! yumm. Not only that, it works a charm too. This cleanser is very gentle on the skin, does not leave your face feeling tight or stingy. However at the same time lifts everything you need off  your face, as its a cleaner and toner all in one. Who isn't up for some time saving skin care.

All in all I would purchase the HydraQuench range as I feel it works, and is enjoyable to use.

Now for the favourite, and when I say favourite I mean I literally have to stop myself from using these products every evening. Origins have just changed my Skincare routine, in a very good way. I sampled Modern Friction, No Puffery and the Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. All three of these products you need, trust me. Modern friction is an exfoliator, that you put on your face then with a damp cloth you circle the product around your face and neck. This is so gentle on the skin and leaves it feeling clean right through the layers. As it is natural ingredients used in Origins products your skin feels very light and not loaded down with more product trying to remove impurities. I couldn't believe the difference in my skin, the tone, the texture everything. Are you won over yet? Well hold right there, suffer from dehydrated eyes then try using No Puffery. This is a gel, that is very soothing on the eye area and can be applied with your fingers gently massaging around the eye area or put some on two cotton pads and let it soak in during a pamper night. Now, I'm not sure how well this works at making you eyes less puffy, as I don't really suffer from puffy eyes, but I really enjoy using this product a as base before a moisturiser and the cooling affect is lovely in the mornings. Lastly from origins is the Drink Me Up Intensive Overnight Mask...good god this is amazing! If you only get one thing from this blog I hope its to buy this product. After using this the next morning the difference was incredible, my skin was so much fuller and felt really nourished. For dehydrated skin I think this is the answer, your skin literally drinks this up overnight and is so soft and peachy the next day. I honestly couldn't believe the difference, obviously this does not last weeks at a time but you can use this product two to three times a week and it is something I have began to look forward to.

So that dragged on a little there, but there is just so much to say about samples. I would recommend buying small empty containers and pouring your samples into them as they last longer and you can get a better idea if it will actually work for you. On top of that samples are generally free, so raid Debenhams and House Of Frasers counters finding products that suit you before spending a months wages on an eye cream.
